Talking Simpsons #407: Top 20 Treehouse Of Horror Episodes, Part 1

Well, we’ve finally wrapped up all the Treehouse Of Horror episodic reviews but we’ve still got four more of these before the month ends so, let’s do a list of the best Treehouse Of Horror shorts.

For the next four posts (not including tonight’s one for the newest episode), we’ll be looking at the 20 best Treehouse Of Horror shorts, we’ll look at 5 in each post going all the way up to #1 so without further ado, let’s begin the list of the top 20 Treehouse Of Horror episodes:

20. Oh, The Places You’ll D’oh

In this twisted parody of Dr. Seuss’s children’s books, Homer abducts Bart, Lisa, and Maggie and rides around Springfield wreaking havoc as “The Fat in the Hat”.

What a brilliantly funny and great twist on The Cat In The Hat, the animation alone is so eerily close to the original Dr. Seuss creations, it’s scary.

19. The Ned Zone

Ned Flanders suffers a head injury that gives him the power to foresee doom a la Christopher Walken from The Dead Zone.

The Ned Zone is a hilariously funny parody of The Dead Zone with a ton of great moments spread throughout the short.

18. G-G-Ghost D-D-Dad

Homer ends up choking on a piece of broccoli after a horoscope says that today he would die, he gets sent to heaven but can’t get in because he never has done a good deed so St. Peter gives him 24 hours to do a good deed and hilarity ensues.

One of the best aspects about this episode is that Homer really is trying his hardest to do a good deed and he just has these ridiculously hilarious situations taking place that’s stopping him from doing so and when he finally does, I won’t spoil what happens at the end but it’s one of the single funniest endings you could possibly imagine.

17. The Genesis Tub

After intending to prove that sugary drinks will rot teeth, Lisa creates her own miniature universe.

A ton of great moments and one of the first uses of computers on the Simpsons where the tiny spaceships attack Bart while he’s sleeping.

16. The Terror Of Tiny Toon

When Lisa and Bart find a plutonium rod to use as a remote control battery, the two get sucked into a special, extremely violent Halloween episode of The Itchy & Scratchy Show.

A nicely put together satire of violent cartoons that even manages to throw in a live-action guest spot by Regis Philbin and Kathy Lee Gifford.
