Talking Simpsons #412: Simple Simpson

Simple Simpson, the 19th episode of season 15 and the 332nd episode overall, was first broadcasted on May 2, 2004 with a script by Jon Vitti and directed by Jim Reardon.

Homer becomes “Pie Man”, a masked vigilante who delivers a pie in the face of justice to evildoers. However, after attacking Mr. Burns, Burns hires him as a personal hitman, until Homer is ordered to attack the Dalai Lama.

Remember when The Simpsons try to make Pie Man a thing? There really was that point when they were trying to make Pie Man the next big Simpsons recurring gag and it just never came together, it was an interesting idea to have Homer to become a superhero but the execution of that character was just never realized and the whole episode never really comes together, there’s interesting ideas and cool concepts to be made but overall, the episode really doesn’t pull out any big surprises or good solid laughs to justify the half hour of being noteworthy.
