“The Honeymooners” are coming back to TV.

TheWrap has confirmed that CBS is developing a reboot of the classic TV series. The multi-camera comedy will follow two couples, best friends and neighbors, who must contend with a new dynamic when one couple remarries after divorcing four years earlier.

Bob Kushell, who served as showrunner on “The Muppets” for ABC, will write and executive produce, with Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, Eric and Kim Tannenbaum and Jeff Greenstein also executive producing. CBS Television Studios will produce. The Tannenbaums and Timberman currently serve as executive producers on another CBS reboot, “The Odd Couple,” starring Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon.

The original “Honeymooners” starred Jackie Gleason as New York bus driver Ralph Kramden. He, along with his friend Ed (Art Carney), were constantly working on crazy schemes to strike it rich. They did so despite the exasperation of their wives, Alice (Audrey Meadows) and Trixie (Joyce Randolph).

Despite being remembered as a major milestone in television history for its portrayal of working class Americans, the series ran for just 39 episodes between 1955 and 1956. It was previously remade in a poorly-received movie starring Cedric the Entertainer and Mike Epps, playing Ralph and Ed respectively.
