He’s back. And with plenty on his mind. Dave Chappelle returns with two stand-up specials from his personal comedy vault that are now streaming on Netflix.
Dave Chappelle has returned to the Hollywood spotlight in the last year in a big way from a critically acclaimed guest hosting gig on Saturday Night Live to not one but two Netflix specials, Chappelle has returned after 12 years of being under the radar.
Chappelle’s stand up return comes in the form of two specials, one called The Age Of Spin filmed in Hollywood and Deep In The Heart Of Texas filmed in Austin, each one starts off with a Morgan Freeman narration in the beginning as Chappelle does a comedy show around an hour long for both shows.
And if you loved any of Dave Chappelle’s past stand up specials, there’s no way you’re not going to love what Chappelle does in these two specials. It’s that great style of stand up comedy he brings to Killin’ Them Softly and For What It’s Worth with the stuff that he wasn’t able to cover in the 12 year span that he was out of the spotlight. There’s a lot of funny stuff going on in both specials all around.
Of the two specials, I think Age Of Spin is the best of two, Deep In The Heart Of Texas has a lot of funny stuff too but the overall best material, I think, comes in Age Of Spin.
Regardless, these are two very funny stand up specials that showcase why we love Dave Chappelle and show him returning to his great stand up comedy roots. Highly recommend checking both of these out.
