Jennifer Beals (born December 19, 1963) is an American actress and a former teen model. She is best known for her role as Alexandra “Alex” Owens in the 1983 romantic drama film Flashdance, and starred as Bette Porter on the Showtime drama series The L Word. Beals earned an NAACP Image Award and a Golden Globe Award nomination for the former. She has appeared in more than 50 films.

Jennifer Beals has always been one of those actresses I’ve always liked, from watching those older movies of hers to watching her recently on great shows like The Chicago Code and The L Word, she’s always been an actress that whenever she appears in anything, I instantly watch it.

And with that said, let’s take a look at 5 of Jennifer Beals’ best movies that she’s attached herself to.

5. The Book Of Eli

It’s a small role for Beals playing the mother to Mila Kunis’ character but she still was really good in the movie.

4. Vampire’s Kiss

One of the most ridiculously stupid comedies ever made but one of the funniest ones, Nicolas Cage gives a great over the top performance here and Beals and Maria Conchita Alonso lead a good supporting cast.

3. The Last Days Of Disco

A really great character picture with a ton of great performances from the main cast.

2. Devil In A Blue Dress

One of Denzel Washington’s most underrated movies, a slick modern day film noir featuring a great cast.

and the #1 best Jennifer Beals movie is…

Not a great movie storywise but in terms of having some of the most iconic movie musical moments, this movie has a ton of them and Beals gives a really solid leading film debut in this, she’s the real heart of the movie.

Those are films at her best, now let’s look at the worst movies Beals has been involved in:

5. The Bride

Certainly not the best movie to follow up Flashdance with. The film stars Sting as Baron Charles Frankenstein and Jennifer Beals as Eva, a woman he creates in the same fashion as his infamous monster. So, it’s a Frankenstein movie but…it’s not??? Kind of….yeah, I have no idea what this movie was.

4. The Gamble

A very mediocre Italian comedy that co-stars Matthew Modine and Faye Dunaway.

3. The Thief & The Cobbler (the Miramax cut)

Go and look for the Recobbled cut on Youtube, this is a much better version of what Richard Williams had in mind for this movie. The Miramax version is a watered down lackluster mess of a movie where the main leads have no chemistry to them and the talents of Beals, Matthew Broderick, Jonathan Winters, and Vincent Price are wasted.

2. Catch That Kid

A watered down Agent Cody Banks….that is at least enjoyable than Agent Cody Banks 2.

and the #1 worst Jennifer Beals movie is…

The Grudge 2

Your typical cliché jumpscare horror sequel to a movie that actually was decent the first time around.
