Batman: The Animated Series 25th Anniversary #59: Blind As A Bat

Blind As A Bat was first broadcasted on February 22, 1993 with a script by Len Wein from a story by Wein and Mike Underwood and directed by Dan Riba.

The Penguin steals an experimental helicopter from an air show, causing an explosion that temporarily blinds Bruce Wayne. Batman knows he won’t be able to wait until his vision returns to track the Penguin down.

The idea is interesting enough to have Batman be temporarily blinded while still fighting crime, that’s a cool concept and worthy of a possibly good episode and while watching Batman fight the Penguin without vision is cool to see, most of this episode does not really come together all that well.

The animation is nicely done, you could even say it’s too good for such a mediocre episode this ends up being, the final battle between a blind Batman and The Penguin is nicely done but other than that, this is another episode that doesn’t work all the way through. It’s not a bad episode by any means but it’s just an episode that I felt didn’t come together as well as it should’ve.
