Batman: The Animated Series 25th Anniversary #69: Avatar

Yeah, no title card this time around because for some reason, the title card wouldn’t copy over to the site like it usually does so I just grabbed a still from the episode.

Avatar was first broadcasted on May 9, 1994 with a script by Michael Reaves and directed by Kevin Alteri.

A mystic Egyptian scroll donated to the Gotham museum by Bruce Wayne is stolen by Ra’s al Ghul, and Batman and Talia must join forces to prevent the power-mad Ra’s from unlocking the scroll’s secrets of life and death. Their quest takes them to a hidden temple deep beneath the Egyptian desert. There, the Dark Knight is forced into a terrifying battle with an ancient Egyptian sorceress (voiced by Nichelle Nichols).

When Ra’s Al Guhl shows up on here, it’s usually going to mean you’re in for a very good episode and here, that’s definitely the case although I will admit that the overall final battle between the sorceress, Thoth Khepera, is kind of a letdown because they really don’t do too much with it but I thought Nichols had a great voice to the character.

The animation on this is really good, I like the design on Khepera and the backgrounds on this is really good too.

Another really good episode, kind of wished the final action scene was a little more intense but for what it is, it’s definitely worth checking out if you like to watch the ones with Ra’s Al Guhl in them.
