Talking Simpsons #509: Apocalypse Cow

Apocalypse Cow, the 17th episode of season 19 and the 417th overall, was first broadcasted on April 27, 2008 with a script by Jeff Westbrook and directed by Nancy Kruse.

Bart joins the 4-H Club and befriends a cow named Lou, but when Lou is set to be sent to slaughter, Bart gives Lou to a country girl named Mary (voiced by Zooey Deschanel) — whom he now must marry after finding out that giving a cow to a country girl is considered a marriage proposal in hillbilly tradition.

They really did a good job of having Bart’s relationship with Mary work really well and the chemistry between Nancy Cartwright and Zooey Deschanel works incredibly well and you really do want to see these two actually have a good relationship and they thankfully have Mary return in several episodes after this.

The overall episode itself does a really good job of blending in some really good comedy and animation that fits in the satirical Simpsons humor that fits the series.
