Batman: The Animated Series 25th Anniversary #105: Girls’ Night Out

Girls’ Night Out was first broadcasted on October 17, 1998 with a script by Hilary J. Bader and directed by Curt Geda.

Livewire escapes during a prison transfer and wreaks havoc in Gotham. She also joins forces with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. With Batman and Superman away, Batgirl and Supergirl must team up to face the terrible trio and bring them to justice.

This is surprisingly the only Superman: The Animated Series crossover in The New Batman Adventures as Superman: The Animated Series had at least three different crossover episodes.

As far as the actual episode itself goes, it’s a really fun episode. It’s fun to watch Supergirl and Batgirl work together to stop Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and Livewire, the chemistries these ladies have in this episode is excellent, they work off each other really well, the voice work by all the actresses work really well, and there’s a lot of fun action and animation all around in this episode.

This show has more than proven that it can do a great story without using Batman as the main protagonist and this episode is definitely one of the best examples of this, this is a great fun episode to watch as the DCAU’s female superheroes and villains take the spotlight in the best way possible, great fun episode to watch all around.
