Demi Gene Guynes (/dəˈm/ de-MEE; born November 11, 1962), professionally known as Demi Moore, is an American actress, filmmaker, former songwriter, and model. Moore dropped out of high school at age 16 to pursue an acting career, and appeared in a nude pictorial in Oui magazine in 1981. After making her film debut later that year, she appeared on the soap opera General Hospital and subsequently gained recognition for her work in Blame It on Rio (1984) and St. Elmo’s Fire (1985). Her first film to become both a critical and commercial hit was About Last Night… (1986), which established her as a Hollywood star.

In 1990, Moore starred in Ghost, the highest-grossing film of that year, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. She had a string of additional box-office successes in the early 1990s, including A Few Good Men (1992), Indecent Proposal (1993), and Disclosure (1994). In 1996, Moore became the highest-paid actress in film history when she was paid a then-unprecedented fee of $12.5 million to star in Striptease, a film that was a high-profile disappointment. Her next major role, G.I. Jane (1997), for which she famously shaved her head, was followed by a lengthy break and significant downturn in Moore’s career, although she has remained a subject of substantial media interest during the years since.

Demi Moore usually does turn out a lot of good performances in her career but when she stumbles, it’s a costly mistake in her career. Nowadays, she’s more known for her marriage to Ashton Kutcher but she is a really good actress when given the right role to work with. And here are 5 of those examples:

5. Ghost

Her biggest grossing movie as an actress, Ghost is one of those style over substance movies, the best aspect about the movie are the performances by Moore, Patrick Swayze, and Whoopi Goldberg and the chemistry between Moore and Swayze. Other than that, the rest of the movie is kind of meh, the story is okay but it needed better representation than what we got on screen.

4. About Last Night…

One of the first leading roles for Moore, co-starring alongside Rob Lowe, About Last Night… is a great comedic and heartfelt look at the modern day relationship with great chemistry from leads Moore & Lowe and co-stars Jim Belushi and Elizabeth Perkins.

3. G.I. Jane

At the time of its’ release, G.I. Jane was seen as a big disappointment at the box office but I gotta say, the movie has not only gotten better with time but it’s pretty fun to watch Demi Moore take on a much stricter role like this.

2. Indecent Proposal

Directed by the same man who brought us Fatal Attraction, Indecent Proposal asks a lot of interesting questions and features really good performances from Moore, Woody Harrelson, and Robert Redford.

and the #1 best Demi Moore movie is…

A Few Good Men

She’s often overlooked over the great performances by Tom Cruise & Jack Nicholson but I think Demi Moore did a good enough job keeping up with the pack.

And now let’s look at Demi Moore’s 5 biggest stumbles as an actress:

5. The Juror

Kind of a boring melodramatic thriller, a single mother is picked as a juror and Alec Baldwin is sent in as a mobster to intimidate her and…that’s it. There’s really nothing to this movie whatsoever.

4. LOL

Yeah, never heard of this one either, this came out in 2012 and co-starred Miley Cyrus…now you know what this is on the worst list.

3. Disclosure

A really lazy attempt at trying to create a new Basic Instinct by also getting Michael Douglas involved. This movie was so stupid, it was trying to be sexy but it comes off as sleazy, Demi Moore’s character comes on to Douglas and fucks him on the first fucking night, the first night, I expect this kind of shit in porn films not in a studio produced movie from Barry Levinson.

2. Striptease

Speaking of failed attempts, Striptease really is one of the biggest misfires ever because you have a golden concept here to make for something sexy and funny, you have a hot Demi Moore stripping and getting hella nude in this, you have the director of Honeymoon In Vegas and It Could Happen To You, and they did nothing for it because they had no idea what they wanted to do, a comedy or a drama. Yeah, it’s nice to see Demi Moore get nude but you know what, we have the internet, I shouldn’t have to sit through a boring melodrama to get the sexy stuff.

and the #1 worst Demi Moore movie is…

The Scarlett Letter

Once again, speaking of failed attempts at trying to be provocative and sexy, The Scarlett Letter was a huge misfire not only because the lack of adapting the Nathaniel Hawthorne story but the fact that they had the nerve to put a happy ending onto this…fuck that shit.
