Talking Simpsons #661: The Winter Of Our Monetized Content

The 31st season of The Simpsons premiered tonight with the episode, The Winter Of Our Monetized Content, written by Ryan Koh and directed by Bob Anderson.

Homer and Bart become viral video stars. Meanwhile, Lisa takes a stand against Springfield Elementary’s new detention policy.

With a series like The Simpsons that has been on for as long as it has, it’s unfortunate that the premiere episodes of each season aren’t really all that special anymore and this one was no exception.

Now, that’s not saying this is a bad episode, not at all, it is a very competently done episode with good animation, a good guest spot by John Mulvaney, and a nicely done story that has some good bits of comedy and an engaging storyline to keep you invested.

It just doesn’t really feel like a big season premiere style episode than what you would expect from the past, overall, it’s a good episode but not a great one though it does start the new season off on a good enough note.
