Bart The Bad Guy was written by Dan Vebber and directed by Jennifer Moeller.
Bart accidentally sees a new superhero movie one month before its intended release, and uses his knowledge to terrorize the other fans. Two executive producers of the film attempt to prevent Bart from leaking any more news to the public.
Several notable Marvel personalities from Kevin Feige to the Russo Brothers to Cobie Smulders as well as Taran Killam guest star in the episode in what I would really consider to be one of the best episodes of The Simpsons the show has done in a long time.
This was actually a pretty well done episode, I like the uses of the guest stars having Kevin Feige as the Thanos like villain, I like how they pay homage to how Endgame panned out while also kind of making fun of Marvel Studios themselves, I even love how the Russo Brothers’ characters essentially troll Bart Simpson, who becomes the antagonist by knowing what’s happened, the way that they do, there’s even a great bit at the tail end of the episode where they take a jab at their new bosses at Disney just as the executive producer credits come up. They even threw in a homage to Spider-Man 3 by playing the infamous dance scene music as well in there too.
I like how Bart not only becomes a Marvel style villain without the crazy superpowers but also kind of an Ebenzer Scrooge type character towards the end. Even the way the story resolves itself reminds me of old fashioned Simpsons like the end of Lisa Gets An A where the town just completely does so much more than expected to have everything end in a happy way.
Bart The Bad Guy is definitely one of the best newer Simpsons episodes in a while paying homage to Marvel Studios while also jabbing at and satirizing them at the same time, its’ great use of its’ guest cast, its’ funny jokes, great animation, solid music choices, this is a great, great episode, I loved it.
